Am very happy to announce that applications for Game 122 are open, and that it will be a Legends game.

Over 15,000 ex players from the recent and distant past, as well as current day players will make up the squads in 122.

However, around 3,000 of the best legends and current day players will be held back. They will be released gradually at scouted teams, and on the transfer list, over the first 3-5 seasons.

This will mean starting squads will mostly consist of good to average ex players from that team's past. Manageable squads will have around 3 players over 90 OA that will be in their early to mid 30s. The rest will be below 90 OA.

Doing it this way will mean the squads of all manageable teams will be about the same standard. Their squad values will be within £10M of each other.

The European leagues will be split into 5 regions:

UK and Ireland, or British Isles. – England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Rep Ireland

Southern - Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece

Western - France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Austria

Northern - Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia

Eastern – Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine Czech Rep, Slovakia, Moldova, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania

All leagues will have 4 divisions.





There will be three non European leagues running:

North American
South American
Asian

Teams from these leagues are not available to manage, but they will play league and cup games which you can scout if you wish, and have youth and reserve squads. All of their players will be available to be purchased at a price.

European Qualification

The European Cup will be populated by:

The semi finalists from last seasons competition (4)
The finalists from last seasons Uefa Cup (2)
The FA Cup winner from each League (2)
The top 5 from each of the top divisions (25)

The Uefa Cup will be populated by:

The losing semi finalists from last season Uefa Cup (2)
The League Cup winners from last season (5)
6th and 7th place in the top divisions (10)
The winners from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th divisions in each league (15)

In the first season the qualifiers will be as close to real life as is possible.


Multi Team Management

There will be no multi team management at the start of the game. This will be relaxed after turn 10 but after that point, there will be a limit of one team per league.

There are always no transfers or loans between teams controlled by the same manager.

Managers will be unable to buy players for team X that were scouted by team Y the previous week, when both teams are controlled by the same manager.


Starting Budgets

As the squads are of the same standard there will be no need to balance the game by giving the smaller teams large amounts of UE points or cash. So resources will be much more limited than in other recent games. All teams will start with 30 UE points and £30-40M cash (depending of that teams squad value).


Untrainables

It will be extremely rare for a player in 122 to start with a total more than 25 in the untrainable stats (speed, aggression and vision). There are some exceptions, but most won’t appear until much later in the game.


Point buy offer

There will no special offer to buy UE points at any stage in the game. I imagine it will be more common that managers convert UE points into cash, in the first season at least.


Karma players

Karma players will not be available in 122.


Longevity

Longevity will be (L) almost absolute for one 'end of season', after that it will become (l), still offering good protection against the declines that can come with age, but not as absolute as (L).

This change in Longevity will be the case for 122 and all future games.

Applications

Teams will be allocated by private auction, and as always, the amount bid will be the starting credit for that team. Managers will be told how their bids are doing on several occasions before the deadline so they have a chance to alter their bid. There will not be a public post saying how much the bud is for each team, and nobody will be told how far or behind their bud is on any given team.

If you wish to apply send an email with a list of teams and how much you are prepared to bid for each one. Bids must be in by 9am on 10th of March. I will email the successful bidders shortly after this and will ask for payment within one week.

After the auction, there will be some teams left over, so if you don't wish to bid for a team you can just make an application to be part of the game. Say which league you would prefer to go in and will do our best to fit everyone in.

Once the payments have all been made and the list of teams in the game finalised, everyone will be sent an email confirming the team they will manage. There isn’t a definite start date yet as there is still a lot of work to be done before it will be ready.

The game will be run on a Thursday deadline.

Hi Ben, looking forward to this game! Just to confirm before I work out who to bid on, the starting squads will be worked out in the same way as 119 was, in that legends could start at any of the clubs they played at during their playing career? Or will a lot of legends start at random scouted teams?

Yes. Where possible (with the database of players) a club will be fully populated by ex players. Most clubs will however be a mix of ex players and current players.

Later on during the player allocation process there are stages where 4th division Norwegian clubs, for example, might be topped up with unassigned Norwegian ex players or generated players. But everyone who is assigned a team before the game will have the opportunity to provide details of ex players from that club, if they are needed.

Stupid Question from a newbie - are there still youth teams in legends games if all players old and current are in the game ?
for example Messi being current but Xavi being a 17 year old youngster

Yes, each team will have a youth squad.

Typically lesser OA legends and younger current players will make up the youth squad. There may be a few gems in there (though nobody of the standard of Xavi).

You can make suggestions. But the process of player allocation may place that player elsewhere, if he has played for other teams. And it's possible the player will be too good and amongst the 3,000 or so players that will be held back.

Ben, for scouting purposes, when you're releasing the ~3000 legendary players into the game will they be released into squads we'd 'expect' them to be at (for example Pele at Santos), or will they be released to random teams throughout ROTW (so Maradona might be found at, say, Hartlepool at some point)?

When a legend is added to the game:

If he in on the transfer list it doesn't matter where he is (probably from a team he used to play for).

If not, may be placed at a team from the country he is from IF that team wasn't scouted by anyone that week.

If there are no un scouted teams from that nation, he will be placed anywhere at a team at random - that wasn't scouted that week.

If there are no ROTW teams that weren't scouted that week (never happens but is theoretically possible) he would just be placed at a random team.

Those listed on the transfer list, will they be listed for their max values or will the more mathematically astute have to dig out the calculators, maybe an abacus or two, in order to get into the right ball park when bidding? (not that we'll all be able to buy too many people given the low starting budgets, so we'll have to be a bit discerning...)
