PSG are an interesting example. They have won the league for the last four seasons, have the highest team value in France, but would not be in the top 4 if it's done by historic league titles.

Think it should be based squad value. These teams will be the strongest so more equipped for the champions league in the first season.

I would prioritise those managers who have invested in the game. If someone has stumped up three season tickets then reward that by a C L place.

How about... in the Champions League have a 50/50 split! Say 18x entries based on current qualifiers.. then the remaining places allocated to historically successful sides.
Then for the Europa cup do a random draw! Do it live on periscope for a laugh perhaps..

i've given up caring now this is getting stupid
at the end of the day the best teams will probably be the most successful in history over all and will probably have the best players and highest squad value.
so just treat it as a normal game and use the teams that qualified from last season in real life ,lets face it after 5 turns most squads will look completely different and those starting values will count for nothing

Only 22 sides have ever won the Champions League. I would suggest ALL those sides automatically qualify and then followed by the likes of PSG etc and / or teams that will be highly valued by squad.

My vote would be to keep it simple, those teams that were in the Champions league this season start that way in the game. I think it's over complicating things now, I'm all for Ben including us in the decision process but in my opinion there are certain things that don't need to be up for discussion. Tend to agree with this, it's the same format in other games and works. I'm Milan in 119 so would mean I miss out but it seems the right thing to do and personally I want to earn a champions league place and not be given it.
