After 17 years of running the business together, Justin has left Ultimate Europe. From the early days of Game 11 which was entirely postal, to the mostly internet based game it is today, it has been a game we have both very proud to have made, and run. But in the changing world we live in, Justin has moved on to new challenges. I’m sure you all wish him all the best, and feel free to do so here (he still logs on to read from time to time).

What does this mean for the future?

Well, Justin hasn’t been involved in the day to day running of the business for 6 months, so there won’t be any immediate change. I (Ben) have always done the programming, so the game can continue to be changed and improved. In fact, it’s much easier to get a consensus to make a change when there is only one opinion.

There is a chance that games could be delayed through illness. This is something we have never done before, and not something I will let happen lightly. I have gone into the office with flu/man flu before and will struggle through if at all possible. But if my wife, my son or myself have to taken to hospital for example, there is a small chance games could be delayed at short notice.

It is also possible that in the future that I will take time off for a holiday. My son is still young (two) and we don’t have any plans to take any long holidays any time soon. But in the future if we go away for longer, game weeks will be extended by a week or two to accommodate this.

On a separate not, next week there will be an announcement about Game 119, which will be different from any other UE game to date.

Thanks for the update. Its good to hear a bit of background and understanding into the mechanics of how UE runs.

No game is perfect but one of the best things UE offers in my opinion is the fact the owner(s) actually listen to the players views and try where possible to take ideas on board.

Keep up the good work....If you need a break let me know, I only live in the next county and would love the chance to mess up a few a teams for some of the numpties on here!

This is a shock, as I read it I thought it was going to be the end as well, but glad it's not as this is the best game out there. Ben, haven't you thought of putting an application in the job centre in and train someone up to learn and help you run the game? I'm sure the infamous 'Maxi' would jump at the chance.

Good luck Justin and thanks for all your time and effort you put into a game we've all become hooked on, better value than buying Football Manager year after year.

With what Ben has said we the UE community must now play our part to help UE run the game while it's a one-man operation as a group we need to

[*]Think twice before we email in, do we really need to bother UE with that question or can someone on the forum attempt to answer it instead?

[*]Understand and accept turns may be late in the day, as much as we like to see an early turn we all have to respect it's not always possible for the reasons listed above. Even if it's late by a day is it the end of the world? If it's delayed by a week or two well we all need a holiday and i'm sure we'd all be compensated for any significant delay.

[*]Respect any changes brought into the game whether we like them or not

So lets all do what we can to help UE, and it'll be interesting to see what Game 119 looks like!
