UE,

When I first joined game 90 I obviously didn't know the full ins and outs of the game and would buy any player I like the look of.

So these days players with 6 speed and less are considered useless by most and most managers wouldn't look twice at signing these despite some of them being the best players in the game.

Is a 4 speed CB worthwhile?? Are these players worthwhile in the game?

The same with aggression and vision, what are your thoughts??

I will buy and play any player despite these stats being low but most won't as they have the perception that these are bad players.

Being B Dortmund in 118 my best defender Bartra has 4 speed, nobody will want him. Would UE be interested in this player if you had a team in the game??

Good question. My gut feeling is everyone follows each other and there is some formations that work for unpopular players.

For example DD is not popular but my theory is that it would work very well with lower speed defenders that have other attributes. Would be good to hear UE's take on this though...

I think you are correct in saying that the sheep have following the shepherd on this one

There's a few 7/8 speed wingers who perform better AR wise than 9 speed wingers. After all Beckham wasn't the quickest but could sure ping over a cross. It's an interesting discussion as you say Dave though as not many people will actively seek low speed CBs. That said I definitely think with the right tactics they are worthwhile.

CBs with very low speed can be very effective if used with the right tactics. DD is certainly the best tactic to use if you have.

John Terry is a good example. In recent times Chelsea have generally defended deep and he's excelled. The exception was the Villas Boas period, when they played a high line and Terry struggled.

In one of the games I was in, I did buy an extremely good, unwanted speed 4 CB I believe, and used DD. He was fantastic.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully managers may think differently about them now rather than turn a nose up at them

Put it this way i'd happily take Bartra off your hands in 118.

I put this lad up in 118

GAPE E Gapon 25 R 8 7 6 7 5 7 10 8 7 10 8 8 91 Det 36cb 40m and not one offer due to his speed

and your now saying i have no choice other than to play DD, bit limited aint it?

no one wants or likes playing Defend deep so i have a player who is worth far more than my total team whos a waste of time!

Mertersacker does well for me in 117. But you are limited to tactics. I don't mind playing DD if it works! Which Lazio won the league playing it.

I think it was in 108 with my Wolfsburg side I had a 4 or 5 speed cb who had cracking stats elsewhere and potential... but no one was interested as he played so poor.

Took me a while and some pointers from ue but got the right set up and he turned into a monster with very high AR% and one season with him we conceded a very small amount in single figures.

I think tactics are crucial to the game, I tend to find one star and build around him.

They will be fine in the right system but it renders your team inflexible. You are committed to DD. No chance to mix it up tactically or spring a surprise.

I personally think speed and agg should move, but not very often. Speed down with age, agg up with experience perhaps?
