general conversations about the game should not be taken into account Yeah this sounds like a good hand, wouldn't you like to see people making new threads in general section to drum up some activity there? Sorry for your loss Darthfritzl, as I said was meant in no offence just a point. For the small minority who say no who look like previously the more avid posters, what do you class as 'pointless' or 'drivel' on the forum? Mr Stuttgart, all opinions are equal buddy. You're correct not everyone can get in and post, but a few more extra from those less active they will certainly build up and you'll notice and in time reap the benefits. Check this instance, manager A doesn't post much as he has whattsapp instead, manager b doesn't have/like whatsapp as that's full of drivel but is a adequate poster on the forum as a result. Manager A benefits more from having whatsapp and get to have the deals more but manager b will build up more karma points. Sounds unfair with manager a still having an overall advantage. So rewarding points for those avid posters will help balance the advantages out surely? Personally thinking about it, I actually think most whatsapp users will also oppose to the idea as they will see a significant demise in their chat in favour of the forum. As they will think they have to log online more.

These threads becoming more active on the forum will drive the game where as general posting wouldn't really. If more people are engaging in the game related parts the knock on effect will probably be more general chat on the forum anyway.

It seems we are nearly all in agreement that we would like to see action on the forum but we do not want general crap that would happen if every post was rewarded with a point.
Lets not make the game too easy, we surely have to work to get where we want to be and certainly don't want to be spoon fed.

In fact the more i think about it the more I'm coming round to the idea of just certain sections being rewarded, the question is what sections do we all think they should be?
Also think that karma points should be taken off if someone is seen to try causing trouble or attempt to bully.

I'd definitely agree that Karma can be bad so would support the loss of points for anyone breaking guidelines. Ignoring posts because they don't appear in certain sections sounds daft. A routine post about a modest transfer gets a point but an innovative suggestion in the general section gets ignored? The adoption of a moderator ( as suggested elsewhere) might help to reward a post on it's merits rather than on its location.

Could there be a cap on how many points could be obtained through posts (regardless of type) so there is an incentive to post but not to post excessively/spam?
e.g. each week 1 - 10 posts - 1 point 11- 50 posts - 2 points 50+ posts - 3 points
(not suggesting those parameters or points, just for purpose of example).

Not a fan of that idea as it favours the more lazier managers.
Managers who post more and put the work in deserve to be rewarded albeit for all posts or the certain 'rewardable' sections. Why should the lazier managers, managers under the thumb and/or managers who choose to partake less be equally rewarded?
That wouldn't be fair at all. The whole point of karma is to increase activity and participation.

Read the guys full post, if you post more you win more points the those who dont post.
But also it stops over saturation and spamming.

I like the idea I for 1 wouldn't be posting loads up just to gain karma but if it gets the forum more active then let those gain the points I'll join in the topics like forum cup, predictions etc I'd love to see forum very busy each day always good reading other posts.

The way I see it is if you want to allow points for all posts then remove any major in game benefits such as the sa of versitility. That way all those who cannot devote as much time are not punished as badly.
You could still use the karma points to improve DC, reduce injury by 1 or 2 weeks, improve morale etc. Perhaps add a few more positives? Increase crowd turn out whivh boosts funds or small stadium increases, reduce a players wage (helps finances with low wages being paid out).
Lots can be done without giving a select few a huge advantage.

I'm still not big on being able to make a player that can play all 3 positions. I think these players should be a rare occurrence.
But I agree that certain threads should only accumulate karma points. So only a certain amount can be obtained per turn. I don't really think any of the transfer section should gain karma points. It's arguably the biggest part of the forum. And would be to easy to pick points up if your rewarded for every post. If it is included you should only get x amount of points for posting in there ONCE per turn. Whether it's loan sales or swaps. Otherwise your get people posting individual posts for 5 different players etc.

I just think Ben needs to set it up and then get on with it, trial run and see how it goes.

as far as whatsapp goes i have never tried it in previous games and always had the opinion it hindered the forum and those not using it, i work outdoors and don't have the opportunity to use my computer or phone that much at work and especially in the first 5 or 6 weeks of a game missed out on a lot of deals as a result. so this game (119) i gave it a go found it a lot quicker spotting deals as most reply quickly on there phone rather than sending a pm to somebody and waiting 2 days for a reply, yes there is a lot of banter on whatsapp some i find very funny and im happy to join in and take stick as well but there is a lot of unrelated crap and comments which spoil it . its in the benefit of a seller to post sales on whatsapp and the forum to improve there options what i would like is an agreement that nobody agrees a deal for 24 hours 1 to give everybody an option to bid and 2 because there is always a better deal out there if you hang around a bit longer. i see no reason why if you are signed up to use the forum bar personal reasons at least 1 visit a day is not unreasonable to ask just to look at pms and reply, and 1 hour a week to fill out the sections mentioned above will go a long way to keeping the forum moving along. don't know how many guys are on here but just a little bit of effort from each of us might just keep some interest going and stop people from chucking in teams just because there not winning and cant stop the rot, there's a lot of managers been in this game for many years and we are always happy to offer advise and opinions to make the game a little more manageable and enjoyable to play especially for newbies that are still learning the ropes. deals is another thing that really gets up my nose when ive managed a big team everybody wants my best players and as most who know me will agree i am not a big fan of swapping my best players as prefer to keep my best and build around them but when i get offers i always do my best to reply ,as a smaller team ive been on the other end as well ive tried to offer my best players for the big teams quality even though i know unless they have potential attached im on to a loser, this is not me offering crap its me doing the best as a small team manager to improve my squad so a reply rather than just being ignored would be nice. when selling a player we all want the best deal to get the best we can for the team but please remember this is a game and as such the values although sometimes might be incorrect or under valued compared to there real life value are what they are putting a well know quality player valued at £8,000,000 up for sale and expecting 2 players valued at £20,000,000 in a deal to suit me as the phrase goes is unrealistic yes there are people that will pay over to secure a deal and thats fair enough but lets try and be realistic in the game.
sorry about the long winded post but the kids got up early and i was passing some time as there only so many episodes of inspector gadget you can watch on the bounce.

Let's be honest a lot of us like to deal privately, it's not often you will see me post an offer on the swaps thred but you all know I come to you privately! Why should I change and make my deals public knowledge with the chance of someone talking the manager or even me out of it?

I personally prefer to use WhatsApp as my job requires me to be on the road a lot so access to the forum isn't really viable for me until the evenings, even then I have a 4 year old girl, a border collie dog and a new relationship developing so personally I choose to dedicate my time to these 3 activities just now. I post in the results section most weeks, ice never really been into swapping and cash sales etc, I do most of my business via scouting then spending points wisely and training players. Any deals I do are mainly via WhatsApp with lads I trust. The odd deal via PM on the forum.
So my lack of activity isn't down to Laziness or being under the thumb, it's down to convenience and enjoying other hobbies and interests. The beauty of smart phones is the ability to be able to play a game like this without having to find a signal as log on... if this unables me to gain Karma then I couldn't give a rats hairy ring piece to be honest. We all play the game in a different way, if we all did the same thing the world would be a boring place
Regardless of whether this is brought on or not, I'll play the game the way I always have, with my focus on results, tactics, scouting and training. I'm not opposed to it or against it as it won't affect the way I play the game
I do think though Ben should be commended for the way he constantly seeks to improve and evolve the game. We all have our own opinion of the game..
